Mission Statement
Our mission is to create a humanitarian community by providing free education, establishing feeding programmes, strengthen the protection of the children and women and enhancing the lives of the community we are called to save and protect.
Vision
Achieving a community in which children or women are treated fairly with compassion and respect regardless of their status in society.
Objectives
Every child has the right to live and to have a decent shelter to sleep in regardless of the wealth of their parents.
Every child has the right to have a daily nutritious meal.
Every child has the right to receive education, clean water, get access to proper clothing and a place they can feel safe at and get the possibility to freely express themselves in different forms.
Our long term plan
Our long-term plan is to build our own centre with buildings that cater to a larger number of children and women. We are looking to construct buildings for classrooms, kindergarten, kitchen, dining, library, workshop, an ablution block, first aid with an emergency room and other facilities needed to accommodate the targeted community.
We also plan to provide rooms which will be made available only for women in need. Those should give them the space to do handcraft work and even have a bit of privacy. We are striving to have enough space for playgrounds and vegetable fields for our own use. In case of excess – and as part of generating income – we plan to supply other institutions like colleges or hospitals etc.
We have already acquired a property in Kabwe for Twafweni large enough to accommodate the above-mentioned items of the long-term plan. The land is located close to the community and the beneficiaries. The design of appropriate buildings has been done and detailed budget for the construction of the centre is in progress.
We need your help
The financing of this vision requires help from everyone who is interested to support, whether individuals, companies, welfare institutions and donors. We are focusing on creating fund-raising events through our friends, family, colleagues, partners and all interested people.
Every kind of support is welcome and will of course be used exclusively to support the targets of Twafweni in Zambia. We are open to opinions, new and different ideas and everybody is free to make suggestions.
If you want to contribute or donate to the organisation, we have people responsible for this. Please be assured that accountability is applied at all cost. We have an administration that is responsible for handling all matters concerned.
We are dedicated to give our best to provide our children and women at large with the basic needs. This project is to provide necessities to young people. Each one of us is dedicated to this cause. We are citizens who will follow and mind the laws of Zambia when it comes to our work.
Twafweni shall protect the interests and rights of the children of Kabwe and promote the well-being of them. We shall do that by means of activities, conferences and public meetings. These will also provide a platform to discuss all the matters that are affecting the lives of these children to all individuals involved.
Our targets
- Encourage and assist efforts and projects aimed for stabilising family life as well as improving the social welfare and physical environment of the children in our chosen town. In the future we hope to expand the operations to other towns in Zambia.
- Assist in cases with destitute, neglected, orphaned and unwanted children. Additionally we want to take steps to remove the conditions that are detrimental to the moral, mental and physical wellbeing of these children.
- Cooperate with and support the work of other district organisations for child welfare. We hope to exchange information and collaborate to improve the impact of all our works.
- Raise funds to finance schemes designed to achieve these objectives and further the work of the organisation.
Other Projects
Further projects we have in mind once our center is in operation are the following.
- Women empowerment by teaching them skills and handcrafts like:
- Pottery
- Fashion
- Gardening
- Tailoring/Knitting
- Invent decorations
- Wooden and Paper Crafts
- With focus on the climate change we plan to engage young people in a “Plant-a-Tree-campaign” to keep our landscape green.
- Launch of a PET-bottle recycling system which in the first step motivates people around to collect bottles from the streets. This generates a small income as Twafweni will pay for the bottles e.g. by weight or per piece. We hope that will benefit the families and help encourage them not to indulge in bad habits. The bottles will later on be cleaned and shredded. The shreds will be supplied to further recycling processes. This will help to create a cleaner environment which also benefits the entire community.
Our greatest wish is to engage everyone and especially the young people from everywhere around to come and volunteer at the centre. Perhaps we can even encourage people to get involved in the centre construction and further development.
Together we can do it!
Our children will be thrilled to learn different things from other cultures of this world. They will love to experience various activities like sports, tournaments, reading books, educational activities and all the other things the children would love to do but unfortunately don’t have the ability to do right now.
It starts with you and me. The assurance is that things like these will certainly stay in their little hearts forever.
Let’s help a child today who will help another child tomorrow. This way we make a positive transition by avoiding the transferring of poverty to the next generation.
Please contact us for sponsoring vulnerable children, helping young women go back to finish their education after early pregnancies or supporting us with help of any kind.
